Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a ADS COBOL Developr. This position will support the Defense Finance and Accounting Service’ Automated Disbursing System (ADS). The main function of a software developer is the development, maintenance, and migration of the Automated Disbursing System (ADS) information system.

The position will evaluate information systems requirements using Government approved engineering principles for examining the hardware, software, firmware, and human interfaces for DoD and DFAS life cycle management. Support will be focused on the following tasks: program and unit test system modifications, participate in all levels of system testing, attend analysis and design meetings, document system processes, and train team on processes and programming techniques.

Job Responsibilities:

• Uses expertise to design develop, code, test, and debug software.
• May work in one or several areas, such as equipment or software design, engineering evaluation or test, configuration management procedures, statistical analysis and modeling.
• Works with users to define existing or new system scope and objectives.
• Provides analytical support and technical advice during the conceptualization, development, and implementation phases.
• Plans and schedules new applications systems projects with user, systems software, and computer center operations personnel, including the identification of objectives, time frames, costs, and manpower requirements.
• Performs tasks necessary to ensure the identification and documentation of hazards within software systems using various analysis tools and techniques.
• Reviews and evaluates systems and software for adherence to government or commercial directives, standards, guidelines, and criteria concerning software safety and systems safety.
• Confirms design mitigations are captured in the design and its documentation and verifies implementation.
• Basic design, build or maintenance of software, using authoring or scripting languages, content creation tools, management tools and digital media.
• Identify problems uncovered by testing or customer feedback and correct problems.
• Evaluate code to ensure it is valid, meets industry standards and is compatible with devices or operation systems.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD, 9 years in lieu of degree
• Active Public Trust clearance
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
• Experience with COBOL
• Experience with TSO
• Experience with RexxISPF
• Experience with VSAM
• Experience with CICS
• Experience with IDCAMS
• Experience with CA-Librarian
• Experience with JCL
• Experience with CA-InterTest for CICS

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
