The Opportunity: 

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator  who is responsible for operating equipment as directed and specified while adhering to all rules and regulations as mandated by Mortenson safety policies and procedures. 

Responsibilities:

• Operate the following equipment based on the requirements of the project:
  • Blade
  • Dozer
  • Loader 
  • Scraper 
  • Forklift/Telehandler 
  • Crane 
  • Bobcat/Skid-steer 
  • Boom Lifts/Aerial Lifts 
  • Roller 
  • Backhoe 
  • Track Crane 
• Follow prescribed safety regulations 
• Ensure that all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in assigned area 
• Perform routine maintenance to include lubricating, fueling and cleaning 
• Observe equipment operation to detect machine malfunction 
• Follow work plans and pre-task cards 
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 
• Daily Equipment Inspections
• All other duties as assigned

Competencies:

• Strong teamwork orientation 
• Knowledge of equipment and their uses
• Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
• Ability to move levers, shift gears, depress pedals and maneuver steering wheel to operator equipment 
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, procedure manuals, and load charts
• Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)
• Understanding of large cut/fill management

Qualifications: 

• Equipment certifications as required 
• Minimum one year of related experience 
• Current driver’s license of proper class and necessary endorsements as required by law.
• Commercial or site development experience

Physical Requirements:

• Repetitive Hand/Arm/Leg Movements
• Lifting/Carrying/ Pushing
  • *Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling over 50 lbs. will be done with assistance of another team member or equipment.
