Job Overview

The Director of Pricing and Estimating manages the estimating team. Responsibilities include evaluating bid specifications, ensuring staff knowledge, and developing accurate, compliant proposals. The role involves working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure timely and competitive bids.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the content and accuracy of all pricing and technical documents in bid proposals.
  • Research RFPs and develop complete, competitive proposals within constraints.
  • Guide and support the estimating team to ensure productivity and accuracy.
  • Provide documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
  • Coordinate development of cost proposals aligning with regulations and guidelines.
  • Create complex work breakdown structures and financial spreadsheets.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to define effort, resources, and costs.
  • Train and develop organizational estimating capabilities.
  • Analyze scope of work, determine material needs, and compile bills of material.
  • Refine estimating methods based on lessons learned.
  • Ensure proposals comply with all standards and guidelines.
  • Assist in developing contract start-up budgets and review lessons learned.
  • Utilize computer publishing tools for proposal documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • B.S. degree in Finance, Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • At least five years of experience developing formal proposals for government or commercial bids.
  • Understanding of government regulations and codes.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, detail orientation, and team spirit.
  • Ability to oversee tasks, prioritize, and support cost personnel.
