We are seeking a skilled Bioinformatician to join our team, focusing on the integration of genomics with other omics sciences, including metabolomics and proteomics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in bioinformatics, with a proven track record of analyzing and interpreting complex biological data sets including the ability to conduct genome wide association studies, colocalization, fine mapping etc... Proficiency in programming languages such as R/ Python is essential, along with experience in using genetic analysis tools like PLINK, GCTA etc... The candidate should have experience in integrating diverse omics data sets and an understanding of genetic data analysis, bioinformatics pipelines, and statistical modeling. Strong analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, and a keen interest in advancing the understanding of complex biological systems are crucial.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the design, development and maintenance of data collection instruments, databases and procedure manuals. Designs, implements, and performs data management and quality control procedures as necessary for routine and special projects. (essential)
  • Writes computer programs to combine data from separate computer files to allow comparison of data from different sources. Support the creation applications in support of research projects. (essential)
  • Collaborates with program staff on the design and analysis of biostatistics aspects of research protocols. Participates in the design of questionnaires and interview forms. (essential)
  • Analyzes data beginning with univariate and multivariate analyses such as logistic regression and factor analysis for research studies. Supports the interpretation and assist in the creation of study results in collaboration with faculty members, epidemiologists, biostatisticians and other team members. (essential)
  • Provides tabular and graphic summaries of analyses in a form suitable for inclusion in manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed scientific journals as well as for presentation at scientific meetings. (essential)
  • Travels to project specific administrative and or national clinical meetings and presents findings. Attends project team meetings as needed. (essential)

Required Qualifications:

- Master's degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field required; Doctoral degree preferred.

- 3-5 years related work experience required.

- Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple complex datasets including RNA-Seq transcriptional profiles, ChIP-Seq and whole genome methylomes. Must be able to apply existing algorithms in the analysis of such data and, if necessary, derive novel programs.

- Ability to conduct and interpret multivariable regression analysis, ChIP peak calling, computational motif finding and other whole genome analyses.

- Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Social/Environmental Requirements:

Work requires periods of close attention to work with out interruption. Concentrated effort of up to 4 hours without break may be required.

Work is varied every day and the employee needs to be adaptable to respond to these changes and use independent judgment and manage priorities.
