Job Description :
Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. - Collects victim information from intake referrals, will maintain files on the current status of cases and notify victims of restitution procedures.
- Advises victims concerning their rights, notifying victims of upcoming hearings, and maintaining statistical data.
- Works with the County Attorney's office and the Court by providing them with information regarding the victim ("Victim Impact Statement" information on how the crime affected the victim and the family and restitution).
- Ensures compliance, to include providing technical assistance and monitoring of department documentation for adherence to state and federal standards.
- Serves as the Data Coordinator for the department.
- Serves as the department liaison to the county IT department and coordinates department technological implementation.
- Compiles monthly and annual statistical reports regarding department data.
- Retrieving updates on victims and court dates for the County attorney's Office and victims.
- Testifies in court hearings and provide documentation & reports to the court.
- Detains youth who are not in compliance with their terms/conditions by placing them in mechanical restraints (handcuffs, leg irons, etc.) and transporting them to detention. Sending adequate documentation to detention staff and court.
- Serves as an administrative officer for the department Boy Scouts of America Troop.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Requires Bachelor's degree in Social Services or related major and three (3) years of experience in corrections, counseling, sociology or closely related experience.
Physical Demands: - Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): - Potential to encounter hostile/physically aggressive clients.
Special Certifications and Licenses: - Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
- Requires Juvenile Probation Officer certification.
- Requires Handle with Care Certification.
- Requires CPR/First Aid Certification.

Proposed Compensation: $22.93 - $27.15
Additional Recruiting Instruction: Addendum to Juvenile Probation Officer III This position is assigned to the Training Unit.
Responsible for providing training to personnel throughout the department. Remains current in knowledge regarding standards set forth by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) to adequately provide necessary training to staff. Also provides supervision for Facility Trainers and Juvenile Probation Officer Trainer.
Conducts training for all staff including orientation for new employees and continuing training to be applied toward individual staff recertification.
Obtains and maintains qualification to instruct Trauma Informed Care, CPR/First Aid, Handle with Care Instructor certifications.
Provides staff training documentation to the Administrative Assistant for entry into the relevant certification system(s).
Identifies areas/staff in need of training throughout the Department and provides it.
Provides remedial/refresher training to staff members when necessary.
Coordinates training for Department quarterly and annual staff meetings.
Attends off-site training to identify appropriate resources for training for staff.
Ensures that all staff attending off-site training present information gathered upon their return to the Training Supervisor for further use.
