Based in the Chicago, IL area, we are a fawst growing manufacturing company looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer to our dynamic team!

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, designing, and implementing mechanical systems and processes for our manufacturing operations. This role is pivotal in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our production processes, ensuring we deliver top-quality products to our customers on time, every time.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

1. Designing, developing, and testing all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
2. Applying knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc.
3. Conducting product testing and quality assurance to ensure the final product meets the required specifications and quality standards.
4. Working closely with the production team to resolve any mechanical issues that may arise, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.
5. Developing and implementing cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability, and throughput.
6. Evaluating mechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs, applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
7. Coordinating with suppliers and vendors to source and procure mechanical components and equipment.
8. Collaborating with the R&D team to develop innovative solutions and products.
9. Maintaining technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should have:

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. A Master's degree will be considered as an advantage.
2. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
3. Extensive knowledge and experience working with metals.
4. Proficient in using CAD and other engineering design software.
5. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, product development, and quality assurance.
6. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
9. Professional Engineering (PE) certification is a plus.
