Mechanical Engineering Predictive/Vibration Analyst - Chemical/Industrial -  Houston

Our client, a Fortune 500, global industrial manufacturer with applications in chemicals, refining, food & beverage, automotive, metals, and electronics is actively recruiting for a Mechanical Engineering Predictive Analyst based out of their regional office in Northern Houston. This is an exciting opportunity, as it is a newly created position designed to increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by analyzing operational and diagnostic data, recognize irregularities, and make corrections that will improve reliability and increase productivity related to rotating equipment health and efficiency. The Mechanical Engineer Predictive Analyst will analyze rotating equipment vibration and process data of all types of rotating machinery identifying defect characteristics to prescribe solutions and reliability improvements. In this role you are an innovator and advocate of continuous improvement that will build relationships with senior management at plant's nationally to eliminate unplanned downtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Innovate new and continuously improve predictive technologies and strategies.
  • Analyze operating data to proactively identify defects and anomalies.
  • Integrate operational data with diagnostic signatures such as acceleration and displacement to proactively identify defects and anomalies.
  • Challenge digital teams and suppliers to provide effective and innovative online monitoring solutions.
  • Serve as a consultant offering prescriptive solutions as a SME on all types of rotating equipment.
  • Available for remote off-hour diagnostic support as an integral resource to operating sites
  • Collaborate with, train, and mentor local maintenance and reliability resources.
  • Champion rotating equipment knowledge management initiatives through procedure creation
  • Support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) as analyst subject matter expert.
  • Participate in expert user panels and maintain a network of industry best practices and service providers.
  • Stay abreast of the latest equipment design, monitoring, diagnostics, and service trends to determine opportunities versus the existing machinery portfolio.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree - advanced degree a plus.
  • 5+ years in a related industrial or chemical environment including experience in operations, maintenance, diagnostics, inspection, and testing of rotating equipment.
  • Required Category II - Vibration Analyst certification to ISO 18436-2 standard.
  • Preferred Category III- Vibration Analyst certification to ISO 18436-2 standard.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of design, operation, diagnostic, and troubleshooting of all types of rotating equipment.
  • Strong team values in collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Catalyst for continuous improvement and change management as a solution provider.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respectfully challenge the status quo and improve existing processes.
  • Passionate about sustainability, DQM, OEE, and RCM.
  • Willingness to periodically travel to production facilities - approx 10-20%
