The purpose of this role is to provide for the care needs of the patient with a focus on those treatments and services, which do not require state licensure. This care team member will provide for the hygiene, personal care, and activities of daily living, assist with tray passing and transport of patients, as needed, and measuring and recording vital signs. Some Nursing Assistants may do EKG tests. Some Nursing Assistants may also perform clerical support functions. EDUCATION: High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one year (1040 hours) of experience as a Nursing Assistant; in an acute-care hospital or skilled nursing facility is preferred. Enrollment in a registered nursing program with completion of at least the first year of clinical instruction may substitute for the required experience. LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS: Certified Nurse Assistant Required at hire, Basic Life Support Required at hire, Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) Required within 30 days of hire. PREREQUISITE SKILLS: Ability to read, speak, write clearly and legibly, and understand and follow English verbal and written instructions; Ability to establish priorities and follow through on assigned tasks; Ability to communicate clearly, and work tactfully and effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, team members and other hospital staff; Knowledge of medical terminology; Ability to learn current in-house computer systems; Ability to work effectively as a team member and contribute positively towards the goals of the team and the organization; Maintain a calm demeanor while working in an atmosphere of conflicting demands.
