Job Summary Assists the Performing Arts Directors with planning and conducting instruction to achieve standard objectives of subject areas utilizing appropriate instructional methods.
Essential Responsibilities - Assists Directors with instruction to achieve standard objectives of subject area by specifying lesson objectives and activities which take into account student differences and which use a variety of appropriate instructional methods.
- Maintains open and effective communication with students and the adults responsible for students by providing students with information about their progress in a timely manner.
- Organizes time, space, and materials for instruction; uses time efficiently and creates a positive learning environment.
Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge and background in Performing Arts, such as but not limited to: band, orchestra, chorus, dance, and drama.
- Able to organize tasks and manage time to meet many and varied deadlines.
- Manage small and large groups of students.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff. Able to discuss sensitive topics.
Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge of and sensitivity to Hawaiian culture.
Physical Requirements - Frequently sit, perform desk based computer tasks and grasp light/fine manipulation.
- Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand, and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach/work about shoulder, grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions - Work is conducted in an office environment but the purpose of the work may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. but evening and weekend hours may be required to meet goals and objectives.
