Executes database performance tuning, query optimization, and database troubleshooting/SQL issue resolution using multitenant database toolsOracle 12c or 19c RAC. Deploys database schema management and implementing database configuration changes in production within cloud environments - Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure. Simplifies and modernizes the data ecosystem to ensure efficient and compliant delivery of database capabilities by using Linux shell scripting, PL/SQL, and Python. Builds automation pipelines for database infrastructure by using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins, Jenkins Core, Stash, Artifactory, uDeploy, Terraform, and Concourse. Designs the code architecture in line with business requirements and updating JIRA with story requirements.
Primary Responsibilities: - Defines and evaluates database maintenance tools and builds processes.
- Establishes performance tuning criteria and methods in coordination with internal and external technical resources.
- Designs, evaluates, and performs highly complex database performance and functionality testing.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects.
- Provides technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and techniques in order to minimize future incident occurrence.
- Defines security requirements and operational procedures to ensure network integrity, physical protection, and authorized access to the network and applications.
- Develops business cases to justify information security architecture initiatives.
- Enforces storage management standards.
- Defines the scope of change and impact to other interfaces.
- Creates high level architecture design for the enterprise.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Modifies existing databases and database management systems or collaborate with programmers and analysts to make changes.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing database modernization functions- migrating Oracle and PostgreSQL databases from on-prem data centers to the AWS cloud using Terraform or Cloudformation, and enabling database monitoring using Datadog.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing database modernization functions- migrating Oracle and PostgreSQL databases from on-prem data centers to the AWS cloud using Terraform or Cloudformation, and enabling database monitoring using Datadog.
Skills and Knowledge :
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") leading and executing Oracle database migration and modernization projects on external Cloud provider offeringsOracle on AWS EC2, Oracle AWS RDS, or Aurora Postgres.
- DE writing Infrastructure as a Code (IaS) using Terraform modules or Cloud formation templates for the following AWS services - Oracle RDS, EC2, IAM, Security Groups, or Aurora Postgres.
- DE setting up database monitoring and observability frameworks using Datadog, Cloudwatch, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Prometheus or Grafana.
- DE developing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate database deployments using Github, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jenkinscore, Concourse, Artifactory, or uDeploy.
