Principal Full Stack Software Engineer - EdTech AI Startup Location: Remote The company’s product involves EdTech and AI, improving educational outcomes for students, helping teachers to be more effective, and lowering the cost of education. The company has raised over $10 million in Series A funding and is backed by top tier investors. Revenues are substantial (already at several million dollars per year in ARR) and rapidly growing. The product is already in use in over 100 school districts and rising. The company has about 25 employees, including the CTO and 5 Junior Engineers. In this position, you would be taking over the job duties that the CTO is currently doing; full stack development of the core product. The position has many of the benefits of being a Founding Engineer (ownership, impact, technical challenges) along with the benefits of working on a product that has already achieved product market fit and a rapidly growing customer base. The company is targeting a salary of roughly $250k (and is open to pay much more if necessary), plus equity which could be very lucrative. Job Responsibilities: Roughly 60% front end and 40% backend engineering. The tech stack includes Node.js, TypeScript, and React. Taking ownership of the education product to enhance and expand it as it scales. Creating and fine-tuning features for district administrators, teachers, and students. Developing internal tools to streamline operations. Building and maintaining integrations. Scaling infrastructure to support growing user demands. Optimizing front end and backend performance. Qualifications: Expertise with React or Node.js (ideally both). Able to learn new technologies as needed. Ability to understand large, complex codebases and products, and quickly become the authority on how things work. Ability to start from a frustratingly vague Figma and turn that into a working feature. Proficiency in cloud infrastructure tools. Passion for making a positive impact on education. Desire to have significant responsibility and ownership of the product. Resourcefulness, with a drive to acquire new skills and learn new technologies as necessary to solve difficult problems. Fearless in taking on high stakes challenges.
