SUMMARY

The Ranch Hand is primarily responsible for assisting with the stewardship of the animals on the ranch using regenerative methods to improve soil and ecosystem health. The Ranch Hand must be good with tools, familiar with farm equipment, prefer having experience working with animals but not necessary, and be willing to learn.

REPORTS TO: Livestock Manager

FULL-TIME, Annual Salary plus full benefits and matching 401K

GENERAL HOURS: 5 days per week with 24/7 availability

RESPONSIBILITIES

LIVESTOCK

• Implement the grazing plans that incorporate all animals on the property.
• Ensure that animals always have adequate food and water.
• Monitor and record information pertaining to animal health and performance when performing daily tasks.

FENCING

• Set up, tear down, and maintain temporary electric fencing
• Maintain permanent fencing

ADDITIONAL RANCH RESPONSIBILITIES

• Property upkeep and maintenance
• Prescribed fire
• Assist other staff with duties as required

RISK MANAGEMENT

• Complete all tasks with proper personal protection equipment
• Alert the Ranch Manager to any unsafe work conditions immediately

OTHER

• General duties and various requests and projects at the direct supervisors discretion.

• High level of discretion and discernment relating to protecting the principal's privacy and interests; willingness to sign and adhere to a non-disclosure agreement
• Passion for ranching, fishing, hunting, and all outdoor management
• Attend and adhere to regenerative ranching training and implement practices as directed by the principal
• Ability to communicate effectively via phone, computer, email, etc.
• Reliable attendance and flexible schedule
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Must be able to operate and maintain ranch equipment
• Effective time and project management
• Excellent personal references
• Valid driver’s license and US work authorization
• Ability to manage time with little to no supervision
