Job Description

Nature of Work

Located in the Kearneysville District Office of the Office of Environmental Health Services , this position serves as a Regulatory Advisor for the Compliance and Enforcement Unit within the Environmental Engineering Division .

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting public water systems with compliance and enforcement actions in accordance with State and Federal Safe Drinking Water Act regulations.
  • Providing on-site, phone, or electronic technical assistance to help public water systems meet monitoring requirements and schedules.
  • Guiding public water systems through required documentation and reaching out to systems that may be out of compliance to reduce reporting violations.
  • Generating reports and reviewing data to identify missing sample results, offering guidance to minimize monitoring violations.
  • Analyzing technical and analytical data to ensure sample results fall within regulatory minimum and maximum limits.
  • Collaborating with an assigned engineer to determine and recommend necessary treatment or process changes to maintain compliance.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Substitution: Additional full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience (as described below) may be substituted for the required education at a rate of one (1) year of experience per 30 semester hours of training .
  • Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in environmental/natural resource protection, environmental impact, or a related field .
  • Substitution: Graduate coursework may be substituted for experience at the rate of 15 semester hours per one (1) year of experience .
